1st Symposium on Radical Chemistry (Bern-SRC)

On June 27th and 28th, 2024, the 1st Bern Symposium on Radical Chemistry (Bern-SRC-1) was organized at the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Bern.

Radical chemistry has a long and successful history in Switzerland with prominent scientists, such as Rolf Scheffold, Hanns Fischer, and Bernd Giese, who have largely contributed to the development and the success of radical chemistry. The spectacular development in this field over the last two decades has prompted us to organize a biannual symposium to regularly highlight the latest advances in the domain. The symposium was intended for participants from both academia and industry.

The 1st Bern-SRC had an exciting scientific programme that included 5 plenary lectures, 14 invited lectures and 2 poster sessions with world-leading speakers focused on modern aspects of synthetic organic chemistry using free radicals.

This congress was the 1st in a series that offered all attendees and participants the opportunity to listen to and interact with some of the most creative researchers working in the field of radical chemistry. Moreover, Philippe Renaud's retirement coincided with this event, making it a unique opportunity to celebrate.

Public Session: the last session of the first day, including the lectures of Prof. Bernd Giese, Prof. Samir Zard, and the Paracelsus Prize Winner 2024, Prof. Armido Studer was open for the public without registration.
